FASCIA BOARD REPLACEMENT

Fascia board is an essential component of the roofing eave as it plays a key role in both function and structural integrity. By capping off the exposed edge of the roof frame, fascia boards prevent free air exchange into the attic or roof. In addition fascia boards provide a flat surface that gutters are able to mount to.

FASCIA OPTIONS:

RAKE BOARDS

Rake boards are basically fascia boards that run diagonal along sloped roofing edges, otherwise known as gables. An easy way to remember the difference between fascia boards and rake boards is fascia boards typically run horizontal and support gutters, whereas rake boards are always diagonal and therefore never have gutters installed to them.

FRIEZE BOARDS

Frieze boards are basically fascia boards that are installed under the soffit instead of along the edge of the roof rafters. The main purpose of frieze boards is to cover the gap between the siding and soffit to prevent moisture from getting behind the siding. In some situations, frieze board will need to be removed to be able to replace soffit.

How is the price for fascia board replacement determined?

The cost for fascia, soffit, and other wood repair varies on a couple factors, such as:

  • Whether or not the gutters need to be removed and reinstalled, or are being replaced

  • When soffit or fascia needs to be removed and reinstalled to configure the other properly
  • Materials need to be custom painted before the service date

Can loose fascia boards be repaired?

If taken care of before water damages have occurred, yes.  Since gutters are basically supported by fascia board, gutters that are constantly clogged and full of water cause extra strain on the fascia boards. Overtime this can pull the fascia boards from the roof rafters, especially if they were nailed in.
