PROPER GUTTER MAINTENANCE

The end result of not following proper gutter maintenance is needing gutter repair services. Neglecting your gutter system by allowing debris to fill up and clog the system will ultimately lead to gutter repairs such as: Gutters coming loose, leaking, or even going out of pitch. Moreover if these problems are not taken care of they lead to very costly repairs to the home’s foundation, fascia boards, interior walls, and/or roofing eave.
One common misconception other gutter companies play off of, is leading homeowners into thinking their gutter system needs to be replaced over small issues.  Fortunately for our customers gutter repair is one of our specialties.
We take pride in being able to determine the cause of any gutter related issues and being able to make the best recommendations to our customers.  Our goal is to make sure that your gutters last as long as possible.
All gutter repair services through My Gutter Doctor are covered by our 3 year service warranty.

ADD SMALL REPAIRS TO YOUR NEXT GUTTER CLEANING SERVICE TO SAVE MONEY

To avoid paying out the $175 repair minimum fee for small repairs we suggest pairing your gutter repairs with your next gutter cleaning service.  As long as the total for the repair and gutter cleaning reaches the $175 threshold, then no minimum service fee will be applied.

RE-SECURE LOOSE GUTTERS

The most common gutter repair is fixing loose gutters. Gutter companies may call this repair “Gutter Re-securement”(or Re-secure Loose Gutter).
There are many signs that a gutter has come loose which makes this gutter repair identifiable by homeowners. Loose gutter spikes, a sagging gutter, or when there is a gap between the gutter and the wall are the obvious signs the gutter has come loose and needs to be fixed.
We only use heavy duty screw in style hidden hangers for all gutter repairs and installations. Therefore the gutters will not come loose again.

GENERAL PRICING

 Re-secure Gutter System : $3.50 – $5.00 per linear ft.

RE-PITCH GUTTERS

The second most common gutter repair that we come across is when a gutter is pitched wrong. All gutters on the home are pitched towards the downspouts. What this means is the gutters were installed on a slope so that water automatically drains freely. The slant of the gutters plus gravity work together to make this possible. However, when the gutter pitch is off then the water is not able to drain properly.
Gutters overflowing from the end of the gutter opposite the downspout is an indication that the gutter is sloped in the opposite direction.  If the water is going away from the downspout that means it isn’t draining properly. Another sign is when gutters leak or overflow in areas that aren’t common for clog related problems.
We use the same heavy duty hidden hangers to re-pitch gutters as we use to re-secure the gutters. Basically once we set the gutters to the correct slope they aren’t going anywhere.

GENERAL PRICING

 Re-Pitch Gutter System : $4.00 – $6.00 per linear ft.

RE-SEAL GUTTER LEAKS

There are a few types of gutter leaks that can all mean different things.  For example water leaking, dripping, or overflowing near a downspout indicates a clogged downspout. (which does not require gutter repair) While water leaking from a miter (gutter corner) indicates a bad seal and even potential gutter pitch issues.
Identifying what is causing the leaks often requires an examination of the gutter system. For example when a miter leaks that means the sealant has failed. However usually there is a cause for the sealant to fail in one area and not the entire home. The most common cause is when the gutters are not pitched correctly. Water sitting in the gutters from not being able to drain eats through the sealant and causes leaks.

GENERAL PRICING

Re-Seal End Cap: $15-$20

Re-Seal Miter: $25-$50

LOOSE OR DAMAGED DOWNSPOUTS

The downspout is the part of the gutter system that carries the water from the gutters to the ground. Over time the brackets that mount the downspout to the wall can come loose which may cause the downspout to hang loose or even fall.
We can re-scure, re-configure, or replace your downspouts on just about any style exterior wall.  From brick or stone to stucco our quality trained professionals have you covered.
Although not technically a gutter repair, we do often suggest to homeowners to extend their downspouts into the lower gutter system. Extending the downspouts keeps the water contained and saves your roof from excessive wear and tear caused by upper level downspouts. Please visit our Gutter Installation page for more information on extending downspouts.

GENERAL PRICING

Re-Secure Downspouts: $20-$50

Replace Damaged Downspout Elbows: $20-$30

Aluminum Downspout Extensions: $8-$10 per ft.

MITER REPAIR

Anytime two separate sections of gutter come together to form a corner a miter is needed to seal off the open seams. Gutter Miters are basically gutter corners. All miters are finished off by sealing any gaps, holes, or seams with a waterproof sealant. This is to prevent the water from leaking.

The problem with miter seals is that over time the sealant wears out and fails.  Once the sealant fails then the water will leak from the area every time it rains.

We can re-seal your existing miters that are leaking during a gutter cleaning service or as a separate repair service.  In certain situations the miters may even need to be replaced.

Re-Seal Miter: $25-$50

MITER REPLACEMENT

There are times when miters are beyond repair and they need to be replaced. Anytime there is a bend, tear, or fold in any component of the gutter system the piece more than likely needs to be replaced.

In the photo below you can see a miter that is badly damaged from a falling gutter. Replacement is necessary at this point.

Strip Miter Replacement: $25-$50

Box Miter Replacement: $40-$75

loose drip edge

DRIP EDGE / ROOF FLASHING

The drip edge is a type of flashing that covers the gap between the shingles and the roof decking. It prevents the water from being able to go behind the gutter and damage the wood. The problem with drip edge is sometimes it is installed improperly which can cause a few different issues. Such as water going behind the gutter and damaging the fascia board.
Another situation we often come across is when the gutters were installed on top of the drip edge. This tucks the drip edge behind the gutter which allows the water to go behind and destroy the wood. In this situation the gutter needs to be removed from the wall and re-installed lower so that the drip edge is able to be bent outwards.
Technically we consider the drip edge to be a roofing repair. Please visit our Roofing Repair page for more information on Drip Edge and other Roofing Repair Services that we provide.

Drip Edge Installation: $6-$9 per linear ft.

FASCIA BOARD REPAIR

Almost all gutters are mounted to trim boards called fascia boards that wrap around the upper edge of the home. Besides supporting the gutters the fascia boards actually have another purpose. And that is to cover the open roofing frame at the bottom of the roofing eave. Otherwise you would be able to see into the roof and in some cases the attic.
The goal with fascia boards is to make sure that water doesn’t come in contact with the wood. Shingle overhang and drip edge work together to direct the water away from the fascia boards. Gutter damages like loose gutters, pitch issues, or even clogged gutter systems can cause the water to go behind the gutter system and damage the fascia board.

GENERAL PRICING

Fascia Board Re-Securement: $5-$8 per linear ft. (does not include removing and reinstalling gutters)

Fascia Board Installation: $15-$20 per linear ft. (does not include removing and reinstalling gutters)
