SOFT WASHING VS. PRESSURE WASHING

The two most common methods for cleaning homes with water pressure and cleaning solutions are called Soft Washing or Pressure Washing.

Pressure Washing is the use of high pressured water and cleaning solutions to clean surfaces. Whereas Soft Washing uses low pressure water streams and cleaning solutions to clean surfaces.

Homes and roofs will generally need to be washed using low pressure water to avoid damages. Meanwhile high pressure is used for driveways, sidewalks, patios, and masonry.

HOUSE WASHING ADD ONS

Unfortunately there are different types of stains or build ups that may not come clean during a standard house wash service. These stains often require additional chemicals, solutions, or treatments to be removed. Depending on the type of stain and how long it has been building up will determine if it is able to be cleaned or if it is permanent. Our cleaning crew will advise you on site if they think a stain will be able to be removed or if it is too deep and beyond saving.

The following are available as add-ons to a house washing service to remove these deep stains as best as possible.

-GUTTER BRIGHTENING TREATMENT

It should be noted that while soft washing does clean and remove dirt, grime and organic growths from the outsides of the gutters, there are sometimes black streaks left behind that are not so easily removed.

Black streaks on gutters, also known as “tiger stripes” or “zebra stripes”, are the result of a process called molecular bonding. Basically the aluminum in the gutter is ionized so that the paint sticks to the aluminum. However, this process also causes particles in roof shingles to be attracted to the metal and bond to the outsides of the gutters.

Fortunately there are Gutter Brightening cleaning solutions specifically designed to reverse the bonding process so that these stains are able to be removed.

-EFFLORESCENCE REMOVAL (WHITE BRICK STAINS)

White powdery stains on brick and other masonry are actually salt deposits that have crystalized on the surface. As the salt within the brick comes in contact with moisture it reacts and leeches out of the porous material to where it hardens on the surface once the water evaporates.

Early stages of efflorescence sometimes easily remove just with a simple washing. However, over time the salt deposits harden and form a crust. Once efflorescence has reached this stage it is not so easily removed.
