We had a portion of gutter ripped off the front of our house - don't ask. Discovered that there's the drip edge from the new roof we had put on 2 years ago and that there's a small piece from the soffit below but nothing covering the face of the fascia board itself. I've gotten 3 estimates for new gutters and not one of them mentioned anything about how the fascia should be protected from the elements whether with paint or aluminum fascia capping. So glad I found this and so disappointed and frustrated with the lack of care from the contractors. We are a small ranch so I think we are seen as quick easy money and they don't want it to take any time to repair. Thanks for this info!

Water damage in roofing can often begin in hidden areas like the fascia board, making it easy to overlook until major damage appears. I like how the importance of a strong, well-maintained fascia is highlighted, as it plays a key role in supporting gutters and directing water away from the roofline. When this area is damaged, moisture can seep into the roof structure, causing wood rot, mold growth, and even weakening the foundation over time. A very valuable and informative insight that shows why regular inspection and timely repairs are essential for long-term roof protection!
